Email Marketing Success

Not everyone that comes to your website is going to buy from you but if you could get them to opt into an email newsletter then you have the opportunity to keep them "hanging around" a bit longer. Using the example of a conventional brick and mortar store, the longer that you can keep someone in your store the more likely they are to buy something. Giving your customers the ability to join an email list is the virtual equivalent of staying in the store longer.

So, how do we get them to join this list. Well for lack of a better term, we have to bribe them. It's smart to offer people a discount for all email subscribers. For example, a headline for an opt in box offer is, "Get 25% off of your next purchase just for signing up for our newsletter." You might not be so keen on giving away discounts but in today's economy it can be a great way to generate more sales. Another bribe is to offer great value to your customers. This should be a given for all of your posts in your emails. An example of this would be my email list where I give away content discussing creating successful websites and bringing traffic to your website. You could even do a double bribe which is what I do. I offer a free $800 website to every 100th subscriber plus I offer people who subscribe instant access to videos answering the most frequently asked questions about websites and web design.

Also, the delivery of your emails is crucial. Spam blockers are on high alert now and it's almost impossible to be sure that your emails get through without using a third party service. The benefit of using one of these services is you can set up auto-responders to communicate with subscribers. Essentially, you can put a years worth of emails in the system and they can be released as frequently you want without you doing anything. I use aweber.com to set up my email subscriptions and I would highly recommend it. It's a great system and can be an automatic profit machine if you have a good offer and good content.

Website Costs

There is a lot of controversy about website expenses and how much is too much. The fact is you can pay anywhere from $99 dollar up to thousands of dollars for websites. Chances are you will be unhappy with both of those options. Most business websites are informational based and there is no need for any difficult, time consuming programming and shouldn't be charged thousands of dollars for. On the flip side the $99 dollar option will generally be a non-custom, template, generic website. Also, that $99 dollar price will not include everything that you think it will. Lots of time they just try to get you to sign on then get you for additional charges.

So, what's the best option then? Find a company that is in between that has a good track record and portfolio. Also, find you can try to find a company that is customer driven that is open about information. Web Design companies generally don't display their prices and I would look for ones that do.

Also, another money saver is getting your site to have a "Content Management System" installed. This is smart website software that allows anyone to update and manage the website very easily without any knowledge of website coding. This should be a one time cost that will help you save residual money that you would be spending on bogus "web maintenance" costs.

A good idea would be to user our Free Website Design service that allows you to view what your website could look like first before you buy anything.
